Originally from England, Kathryn Stanley-Hart now calls Perth, Western Australia home. A professional artist, she is known for her distinctive naïve expressionist style—instantly recognisable and full of character.
In addition to her studio practice, Kathryn is also a passionate creativity coach. Through her unique approach to “creative fitness,” she helps others unlock their artistic potential, break through self-imposed limitations, and embrace the creative process with confidence and joy.
Kathryn’s love of painting began in childhood. After moving to Perth, she studied art and design at TAFE, gradually developing and refining her style. Today, she works intuitively, creating imaginative village scenes that are sometimes inspired by real places—but more often, they spring entirely from her imagination. These quirky streetscapes feel like they could belong anywhere in the world.
Working primarily in acrylics and mixed media on canvas, Kathryn starts each piece with bold, vibrant layers of colour. Using both brush and palette knife, she builds rich textures that bring each scene to life. Her spontaneous, energetic process ensures that every painting is truly one of a kind.
To Kathryn, every village scene tells its own story. Her artworks are quirky, joyful, and full of personality—pieces that bring warmth and happiness to the homes they inhabit. Many collectors have likened her work to that of L.S. Lowry, the celebrated British artist known for his stylised urban landscapes.
Kathryn’s work has been widely exhibited in galleries and art shows (see list below), and she has built a loyal following. Her paintings are held in private collections around the world, and she continues to accept commissions for those looking to bring a custom piece of her colourful world into their space.
